Left the USA for Sweden in 2004. Before I really knew things were getting bad. Ok 9-11 had happened, but this was for the betterment of the family.
Now looking overseas back home…this is the best think I ever could have done.
Now have 25 acres turning in into a Permaculture Center and live in a safe small town. Kids walk to school unescorted, ride bikes to friends and are safe.
Good site….good info!
Thanks

Sadly, Britain will likely be unable to defend itself this time given 1) its recent economic deterioration, 2) the deterioration in its navy and general military readiness, and 3) mostly because of its loss of a Prime Minister with a spine. Cameron is no Thatcher. With oil rich Hugo backing that cute slut in Argentina will likely win this time around. The oil thirsty China with its newly expanded navy and oil drilling experience in our gulf of Mexico near Cuba will possibly assist her against Britain and get access to the leases. Obama of course will not lift a finger other than to attempt to spin it in his favor with the assistance of the national media. Obama is no Reagan or JFK. Obama may though send them a few billion of our money to get their drilling started like he sent to Brazill.
I am sure that most voters in America aka Obama Voters have likely never heard of The Falklands War led by Thatcher and assisted by Reagan, so knowledge of history will be no impediment. I have not seen the new Hollywood produced Thatcher movie. If The Falklands War is in there, which I doubt, I am sure it is portrayed as a war mongering failure by a crazy Thatcher and will provide no real education to the American and British public.

I’ve lived in Argentina off-and-on for years and have seen Argentina’s cost-base rise to parity with the US, but without nearly the same level of intangible capital, and I’m counting the days in 100mm dollar increments, waiting for their CB to exhaust itself in a monetary policy if subsidizing the exchange rate for mostly political reasons. Once the rubber ball pops out of the water, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a USD/ARS as cheap as 7 when the smoke clears, then Argentina would be a value again like it was in 2003-2006. Of course, the human costs in terms of crime and business uncertainty will be significant, exacerbated by a government that has proven itself capable of anything.
I’d be amused to see a Falkland’s Redux.
