#1 Economic Citizenship Programme

St. Kitts & Nevis make up a two island Federation in the West Indies which may mostly be known for its economic citizenship program, which can grant a St Kitts passport as well as citizenship to qualifying investors. The St. Kitts and Nevis Economic Citizenship Programme is the longest established of its kind, and has been in effect since 1984 according to Section 3 (5) of the Citizenship Act.

Relatively few passports has been issued under this Economic Citizenship Program which is one of the reasons a St. Kitts & Nevis passport holds a better reputation than for example a Dominica or Belize passport. A St Kitts passport enables visa free travel to more than 90 countries, including the Shengen area, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Hong Kong and most of the countries belonging to the British Commonwealth. The St Kitts & Nevis citizenship is yours for life and can not be revoked. Further, as a St. Kitts & Nevis citizen you do not have to pay taxes on income earned outside of the country, so the tax benefits can be substantial.

If you value your time over your money a St. Kitts passport might just be the right thing for you, as you’ll bypass the years of waiting that you have to go through if you go the regular way of acquiring a second passport.

St. Kitts Citizenship by Investment

The Government of St. Kitts & Nevis offers two choices when it comes to investing in their economic citizenship program.

  1. Invest a minimum of US$350,000 in qualified real-estate, which you need to hold on to for at least five years.
  2. Donate a non-refundable US$200,000 to the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation, plus additional fees for family members.

Expect to end up paying more though, as there’s always legal processes involved when applying for a legal and validsecond passport. Carrying out this process by yourself is next to impossible, so unless you’re a legal expert make sure to get in touch with a professional advisor.
