San Diego Declares COVID Misinformation a Public Health Crisis

Here’s our Friday roll-up of the most ridiculous stories from around the world that are threats to your liberty, risks to your prosperity… and on occasion, inspiring poetic justice.

Australian Town Bans Men From Applying for Street-Sweeper Job

The Darebin City Council, in the suburbs of Melbourne Australia, posted a $63,000 per year job for a street-sweeper— but said it is looking for “non-male applicants only.”

The job ad says, “only applicants who identify as non-male including women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people are eligible to apply for this position.”

This obvious government discrimination, they say, is meant “to foster greater equality.”

It’s just like the propaganda from George Orwell’s 1984. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

And discrimination is equality.

San Diego Declares COVID Misinformation a Public Health Crisis

The San Diego Board of Supervisors voted to declare misinformation about COVID-19 a public health crisis.

The resolution claims, without providing evidence, that “the unmitigated proliferation of health misinformation has created a culture of mistrust and has prolonged the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that it is the sense of the Board of Supervisors that health misinformation is declared a public health crisis and the County of San Diego should commit to combating health misinformation and curb the spread of falsehoods that threaten the health and safety of our residents.”

In a letter to the Board of Supervisors, Chair Nathan Fletcher explained the plan to essentially build a real world fact-checking regime similar to Facebook and YouTube censors.

San Diego will now “identify and label health misinformation,” implement “targeted community engagement strategies,” “document and trace” misinformation, and “develop a website” to combat public health misinformation.”

San Francisco to Pay Criminals to Stop Committing Crimes

San Francisco wants to one-up California’s plan to pay drug addicts to stay sober.

The city plans to pay criminals to stop committing crimes.

San Francisco is piloting a guaranteed income program starting this October. Participants are eligible to be selected if they are at “high-risk” of committing a gun crime.

In addition to the baseline $300, they can earn an extra $200 per month by landing a job interview, meeting with a life-coach, or complying with probation by not breaking the law.

In other words, the people most likely to shoot someone will be paid up to $500 per month not to shoot anyone.

What a great use of tax dollars!

China Bans “sissy idols” and “effeminate men” from television

A Chinese government regulatory agency, the National Radio and Television Administration, has banned “sissy idols” and “effeminate men” from Chinese television.

This is part of a new plan by the government to crack-down on values and morals they see as counter to Chinese traditions, and the revolutionary spirit.

The announcement also said that anyone with the wrong political opinions— i.e. opinions not approved by the Chinese Communist Party— should be banned from the entire entertainment industry.

The industry is instructed to cut pay, stop showing vulgar internet celebrities, and not allow celebrities to flaunt their wealth or fame.

China has also recently banned children from playing more than three hours of video games per week.

Apparently, the Chinese government believes it has allowed capitalism to influence Chinese society for too long.
